While DevSecOps require engineering principles, best practices as well as tools and techniques, to achieve the best results, an organization wide DevOps culture needs to be built. It involves creating a culture of continuous, flexible collaboration between engineering teams, and support functions like recruitment, operations, and sales. To enable organizations to imbibe this, Optigrise has come up with a DevSecOps maturity model.

Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment have emerged as key enablers for organizations to push products and features into the market quickly. Today, organizations of all sizes are adopting Agile and CI/CD. The idea comes from Lean Manufacturing followed in manufacturing and production control systems. SRE is a framework popularized by Google as the term for the work done by Operations team to manage a system or web site reliably. At Optigrise, we are motivated by the SRE culture & approach. SRE team is responsible for scalability, availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning. It constitutes of engineers & programmers apart from Sys Admins and IT Pros. Some of the key principles and tenets of SRE are –

• While SRE recognizes Operations and Service Management, it focuses on Engineering and Development.

• SRE teams should not spent more than 50% time on typical Ops tasks and should spend equal time in Engineering and Development tasks.

• SRE teams collaborate with Product development team and complement each other’s goals.

• Observability and monitoring are key for SRE.

• SRE teams should automate tasks so that they can focus on development.

• SRE team use best change management practices to reduce downtime and outages.

• They use Demand Forecasting and Capacity Planning appropriately.
